Zumiez May sales fall 20.7 pct

June 3 (Reuters) - Snowboarding gear retailer Zumiez Inc (ZUMZ.O) posted a worse-than-expected 20.7 percent drop in May same-store sales, hurt by lower transactions.

Analysts on average were expecting same-store sales to fall 20.2 percent, according to Thomson Reuters Estimates.
"For the month, all departments posted a decline in same-store sales," finance chief Trevor Lang said on a pre-recorded call.
The company, which is a retailer of action sports-related apparel, footwear, equipment and accessories, said total net sales fell 9.6 percent to about $23.5 million for the four-week period ended May 30.
Shares of the Everett, Washington-based Zumiez closed at $9.88 Wednesday 3 June on Nasdaq.
