Luxurynsight X FashionNetwork · Ep 56: Bruno Lavagna talks to Olivier Guyot about “The role of Geopolitics in the Luxury Industry”

In this exchange with Olivier Guyot, FashionNetwork's French editor-in-chief, Bruno Lavagna points out that luxury houses and labels contribute to the influence of the great powers, particularly in terms of growth. And conversely, countries use their national flagships to exercise their soft power, as highlighted by the numerous annual rankings of the most influential companies in the luxury sector.

If the names of Dior, Hermès or Richemont are recognizable for their heritage and know-how, these companies and their globalized groups also participate in the geostrategic game of international powers. As soon as the military conflict in Ukraine began last March, major groups such as LVMH and Kering distanced themselves from Russia, announcing "temporary closures" or "operational difficulties". The luxury sector thus plays a role in diplomacy, and has even become a key player in international relations.
