Optical retailer Hans Anders expands international management team

Dutch optical retailer Hans Anders announced today that it is expanding its international management team.

The retailer named Sanne Oosterhoff as its new international operations director and appointed Juliette Rook for the role of international sales director, effective from Feb. 1, 2019.

Oosterhoff joins the optical retailer from IJsvogel Retailgroep, where he was the COO and responsible for the group’s 180 stores of pet retailer, Pets Place; outdoor chain Boerenbond; and veterinary clinics, Vets Place. Prior to that, Oosterhoff worked for department store V&D for 10 years and served in recent years as the company’s director of operations.

Rook will join Hans Anders from Danish fashion group Bestseller, where she was the country retail manager for the brands Only and JdY in the Benelux and oversaw 190 stores of the two brands. Prior to her role at Bestseller, Rook worked at Dutch lingerie retailer Hunkemöller, where she held various roles.

Bart van den Nieuwenhof, CEO at Hans Anders, commented: “I am very pleased that these two retail professionals are joining our team. In line with the intended international growth, this is a nice addition for the Hans Anders Retail Group.”

In addition, the retailer said that the appointments mark the company's future international focus. Earlier this week, Hans Anders announced that it had acquired the German optical retailer Eyes + More with the aim to expand its European footprint.

Hans Anders was founded in 1982 and offers spectacles, hearing aids and contact lenses. The brand operates around 400 stores in the Netherlands and Belgium and employs more than 1,500 people. Hans Anders is market leader in the Benelux and Sweden. In the latter country, the retailer operates under the Direkt Optik brand. Since May 2017, Hans Anders is owned by the London-based 3i Private Equity firm.
