Nordstrom is now hiring for its first-stand alone men's concept store, announced last May, which will open this spring in New York City. The Seattle-based retailer will also open a new NYC flagship in 2019.

NYC men's store manager Cailin Caro called the stand-alone men's store an exciting new development in the Nordstrom retail legacy, explaining that the new location will be the retailer's "first full-line store" exclusively for men.

While other department store retailers struggled in 2017, and 2016 notably saw Macy's men's store in San Francisco flounder, Nordstrom has found success and is on a growth trajectory. Caro said the new men's store will be "focused on service and providing customers with an elevated experience that reflects the best of what we have to offer."

In an official release, Nordstrom announced it will hire 250 associates for the new men's store. The company is recruiting for sales associates in apparel, designer, furnishings, shoes and grooming departments.

Nordstrom emphasized the pathway for employees from retail store to corporate, outlining the career paths of both Caro and Manhattan full line stores VP Chris Wanlass. Both Caro and Wanlass began at the store level and were promoted to regional leadership roles, before coming to occupy the positions they now have, leading the new full line concept for the retailer.

Wanless said he and Caro are "committed to creating an environment that fosters career development and growth opportunities, not only within our Manhattan stores, but the company as a whole."

In addition to the new men's store, the new New York Nordstrom flagship is scheduled to open in the base of Central Park Tower in 2019.

The new men's concept store will be located on Broadway between 57th and 58th Streets in New York City. It is slated to open April 2018.
