Miami Swim Week makes a splash in South Beach

Miami Swim Week kicks off in the Magic City on Thursday, offering attendees a packed schedule of runway shows from both local and international brands, as well as trade fairs and a range of parties and receptions.

 
The five-day swimwear-focused event run by Fashion Week Online is expected to attract some 5,000 buyers from 60 countries to Miami South Beach where shows and activations will be organized in a variety of locations throughout the week.

The runway program kicks off at 1PM on Thursday with the Miami International University of Art and Design Swim Show hosted by fashion show organizer Paraiso. Over the next few days, the packed schedule will see labels including Badgley Mishka, Seeker of Sunshine, Agua de Coco, Chloe Rose and many more take to the catwalk.

While Paraiso’s shows are all industry-only affairs, they will be complemented by a range of runway presentations organized by Art Hearts Fashion which will be open to the public. Brands presenting in this format will include LA-based Fernando Alberto Atelier, Sauvage Swim from San Diego, and local Miami label Liliana Montoya.
 
As well as runway presentations, Swim Week will also be playing host to three trade fairs. Both the world’s largest swimwear trade fair SwimShow and fashion fair Cabana Miami will be settling into the Miami Beach Convention Center, July 13-16 and 13-15, respectively, while upscale trade fair Hammock Show will be taking over 1 Hotel South Beach for three days from July 13.
 
Furthermore, Paraiso will be hosting a pop-up shop called the Paraiso Bungalow at Collins Park, offering resortwear, accessories and beauty products from brands including Aloha Collection, Chopard, Olivela and Tropic of C.
 
The location will also serve as a venue for panel discussions on topics including influencer marketing, inclusivity and sustainability. On this last subject, Paraiso will also be taking advantage of Miami Swim Week to showcase the work of the five finalists of its upcycling student design challenge, run through a partnership with The UpCycle Project, on July 11.
 
On top of all of this, Miami Swim Week will be bringing a fast-paced schedule of social events to South Beach, including the Ocean Drive Magazine Party, the Planet Fashion Pride Party, the Swim Week Gala, the Saks VIP After Party and an influencer cocktail hour sponsored by Fashion Mingle.
