Mango has welcomed two new executives to its management committee. The Catalan brand has named César de Vicente, formerly of the clothing brand Kiabi, as its new global head of retail. David Guttiérez will take up the role of director of human resources.

The directors will report to Mango’s CEO Toni Ruiz, who took up the role in October 2018. Mango recruited César de Vicente from Scandinavian brand Kiabi, who had worked for the label for 13 years as head of Kiabi Spain before working as director of international development since 2017. At Mango, he will supervise the business’ export network with the aim of improving management practices to maximise sales and profitability, according to the brand.

Meanwhile, David Guttiérez was recruited to lead the “cultural change that should facilitate the digital transformation of the company.” Guttiérez has also previously worked for Kiabi, from 1992 to 2002, before spending a dozen years at Foot Locker Europe. Since 2016, Guttiérez has worked for Privalia, a Spanish business owned by Veepee (formerly Vente-Privée).

Mango’s management team ha seen somewhat of a renewal in the past new months. Josep Barberà was appointed as the business’ financial director in May and Diego Sebastiàn took on the role of director of customer experience and retail innovation.

Present in 110 countries, the retail chain was founded in 1984 and operates a network of 2,190 points of sale. The business reported a turnover of €2.2 billion for 2018 which was a 1.8 percent increase compared to 2017.
