Man/Woman trade show to expand next January

Parisian trade show Man/Woman, first held in 2012, is expanding from next January, when it will host its exhibitors in three different venues across the French capital. Besides the Pavillon Vendôme and the Hôtel d’Évreux in place Vendôme, the show’s third venue will be the Pavillon Cambon in rue Cambon. Like the other two, the new venue is owned by event organiser Potel & Chabot.

“This third venue, of about 1,000 square metres, will enable us to better fulfil the requirements of the brands which exhibit womenswear collections in January and June. Women’s ready-to-wear brands will occupy the ground floor, and women’s accessories the first floor. This was made possible by the fact that we enjoy an excellent relationship with the site’s owner,” said Antoine Floch, co-founder and director of Man.

During the last Paris men’s Fashion Week, from June 22 to 24, Man unveiled a new format called Man/Woman, as a third of its exhibitors showcased a mixed-gender or women’s collection at the Hôtel d'Évreux site.

“For us, it’s important to adapt to the market. Nowadays, 70% of the budget of womenswear buyers is spent on the pre-collections. We are keen [for the show] to have the right size. While it’s hard to turn down interesting brands which are consistent with our range, we don’t want to become a mega event selling space by the square metre. We could locate the show in the outskirts of Paris and have 400 exhibitors, but it wouldn't make sense for us, because we’d lose the connection with those exhibitors who put their trust in us,” said Antoine Floch.

The show currently attracts a mix of French and non-French brands, among the former Sessün, Bleu de Paname, Penfield, Karhu, Filson and Mont Saint Michel.
