Levi's announces "Fresh Leaves" collaboration with Justin Timberlake

Levi’s has announced that it has collaborated with Grammy Award winning actor and musician Justin Timberlake on a 20-piece menswear collection set to launch next month.

Timberlake contributed directly to the design process of the collection, which aims to offer a modern take on Levi’s classics and is entitled “Fresh Leaves” to reflect the fact that the entertainer has given a new twist to some of the brand’s icons, remixing familiar pieces, patterns, colors and silhouettes with new and original ideas.

The collection has an underlying streetwear feel, switching up the dimensions of some pieces to make them longer or oversized, while adding hoods to others.

Headliners include a denim camo Trucker Jacket printed using the Project FLX digital laser technology recently launched by the brand, as well as jeans featuring a new 501 Slim Taper fit based on how Timberlake likes to wear his denim. Other pieces include jackets, shirts, graphic tees and a hoodie.

Pieces in the collection also feature exclusive branding elements, namely the iconic Levi’s Red Tab and the brand’s “two horse pull” leather patch with black writing.

“We immediately connected with Justin on creating pieces that blended the familiar with the unexpected,” said chief product officer for Levi Strauss & Co, Karyn Hillman, in a release. “Inspired by the stories behind Justin’s music, we used classic materials – canvas, plaids, camo, flannels, sherpa and denim and put them onto familiar silhouettes and Levi’s icons but remixed them by infusing streetwear elements and hits of modernity.”

The collaboration between Levi’s and Timberlake began when the brand asked the singer to customize its Trucker Jacket for the piece’s 50th anniversary. When Timberlake subsequently opened a pop-up in New York to celebrate his tour, Levi’s contributed eight pieces, including truckers and flannel shirts, before going on to provide the entertainer with outfits to wear on the tour itself.

The Levi’s x Justin Timberlake “Fresh Leaves” collection will go on sale in select Levi’s stores worldwide on October 4, as well as on the brand’s e-commerce platform and in select wholesales locations.
