Le Coq Sportif confirmed it remained on track for growth in the first half of 2018, after its returning to profit in 2017. The French brand recorded operating income or EBITDA of 2.6 million euros for the six months, compared to nil profit for the same period last year.  Likewise, total revenues for the company grew to 57.6 million euros, up 1.4%.

The Swiss holding firm, which owns 82% of Le Coq Sportif, said the results come on the back of "investments made by the brand, the adaptation of its business model and a good management of operating costs."

Confident for the upcoming second half, Airesis expects double-digit growth in revenues for the remainder of 2018.

The group highlighted Le Coq Sportif's partnership with the French rugby federation, which has increased international awareness of the brand. This year, the brand has renewed its rugby sponsorship deal, becoming the French team's official uniform maker, replacing Adidas.

Le Coq Sportif has a rich history with the sport, having previously been the official rugby team sponsor in 1930s, when the French team first debuted; a partnership that lasted until 1975, before kicking off again from 1980 to 1986.

Known for making cycling, tennis, football and rugby sportswear, the French label stepped into new terrain this year -- Formula 1 -- after signing a deal with car maker Renault to dress the team for the next three years.
