Three avant-garde guests of honour: Korean designer Juun.J, a regular feature at the Paris shows, the leader of Italian style's new generation, Marco De Vincenzo, and Adidas Originals by White Mountaineering for the 'Designer Project'. They are the headline attractions featuring at the next edition of Pitti Uomo, to be held in Florence from 12th to 15th January.

Juun.J

Juun.J will be the guest of honour for menswear at the Florence show. The Korean designer is well-known to men's fashion aficionados and will showcase one of his collections for the first time in Florence, with "a unique event" according to the organisers’ press release.

Juun.J’s brand, whose style, labelled 'couture streetwear', is distinctive for its futuristic yet controlled volumes, became part of the Cheil Industries (Samsung) conglomerate in 2011. It's the first time that a Pitti guest of honour hails from South Korea.

Marco De Vincenzo

As we revealed in mid-October, the show's guest of honour for women's fashion will be Marco De Vincenzo. De Vincenzo usually shows in Milan, with his women's ready-to-wear brand in which LVMH holds a minority participation, and is regarded as one of the most talented among the designers of the new generation. Pitti announced his as "a spectacular performance in an unprecedented venue in Florence."

Finally, the 'Designer Project' at Pitti Uomo 89 will be the special project for adidas originals presented by White Mountaineering. White Mountaineering's Japanese designer Yosuke Aizawa will provide his own interpretation of the directional sportswear label's design codes. For Aizawa this is a return to Pitti Uomo, where he made his European debut in January 2013.
