J-Star, a private equity company in Japan, has announced acquisition of fashion retailer Wego in Tokyo.

Wego aims to strengthen the organisation and system infrastructure by reorganising the target businesses in a corporate group centered on Wego, J-Star said in a statement.   Also, Wego will work on improving the efficiency of e-commerce channel.

The target businesses include various fashion brands such as Punyus, WC, Giordano, Dammy, Ding and Denime, Bucca 44 and others, centered on the Wego brand, which own high recognition and trend creation capabilities mainly in the age group from teens to twenties.

The acquisition announcement has come after Wego's plan to restructure its businesses and strengthen its reach through e-commerce. With yearly sales of more than 35 billion yen ($308.7 million), Wego has a network of over 180 stores in Japan.
