Instagram Stories unveils new shopping features

Instagram has added new features to allow users to shop directly from brands in Instagram Stories by clicking on stickers with a shopping bag icon.

More than 300 million people use Instagram Stories every day, making this a very attractive platform for brands and retailers to interact directly with consumers.

According to a recent Facebook survey, Instagrammers often watch stories to stay in the-know with brands they are interested in, get an insider view of products they like, and find out about new products that are relevant to them.

The creative content format enables people to view and share moments via photos and videos that disappear within 24 hours unless saved.

Instagram said brands create some of the most viewed and engaging content on the platform, with brands like Chanel and Louis Vuitton reaching more than 25 million followers.

The online company launched shoppable posts in the UK earlier this year, making its most significant push into e commerce since the launch of Business tools in 2016.

More shoppable features will be added soon, said the online company.
