Gran Canaria Moda Cálida launches Gran Canaria Swimwear Fashion Week. From this Thursday 15th June until Sunday 18th, 28 Spanish and international designers will come together at Expomeloneras to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Europe's leading swimwear platform.

Gran Canaria Moda Cálida

With eight more brands than in 2016, the Gran Canaria Swimwear Fashion Week brings together well-established labels such as PS Swimwear, Dapresa e Hipertrófico, Pedro Palmas, Carlos San Juan, Maldito Sweet, Aurelia Gil, Arcadio Domínguez, Calima Swimear and Nuria González alongside children’s brands It Child, Lady Bug´s Cris, Mimenina, El Barquito de Papel and Le Petit Mariette.

Highlights will include Custo Barcelona, who will make his first appearance at the show to give an exclusive peek at his new swimwear collection. Ágatha Ruiz de la Prada, Dolores Cortés, Es Collection, Agua Bendita, Banana Moon, Livia de Mónaco, Italian label Miss Bikini, Portugal’s Holas Beachwear and Israel’s Gottex round up the international line-up.

Additionally, 13 up-and-coming brands will make their debut at Gran Canaria Swimwear Fashion Week, including Como la trucha al trucho, Vevas, Eclipse Swimwear, Chela Clo y Aguas Azules, Basics not Basic, Chaxi, Escobar, Laut, Román Peralta, Savia de Oro, Sarah Kuhlmann SW and Suhárz. The event’s main goal, according to industry minister Minerva Alonso, is simple: to support emerging talent, nurture businesses and prevent leakage of talent. Meanwhile, designer Modesto Lomba will form part of the judging panel for the New Talent Award, presented by Mainstream Magazine.

But perhaps the event’s biggest highlight will be the Gran Canaria Moda Cálida Showroom, hosting 15 brands between 19th and 20th June. The new space aims to connect brands of Moda Cálida with buyers and brand representatives, benefitting from Swimwear Fashion Week’s international appeal.

The 20th edition will again focus on keeping the general public in the loop via social media. Last year, it valued its media footprint at 7.3 million euros. TV presenter Cristina Pedroche will be the event’s ambassador, while fashion models including Juan Betancourt, Desiré Cordero and Rocío Crusset, and influencers, will be tasked with increasing the event’s visibility.
