Delpozo unveils AW19 collection as it prepares to welcome Lutz Huelle

Ahead of the official arrival of its new creative director later this year, Spanish prêt-à-couture brand Delpozo presented its Autumn Winter 2019 collection in Ricardo Grassi’s showroom during Paris Fashion Week. The brand is in transition, following the departure of former creative director Josep Font in September 2018, and is gearing up for a new chapter under its new creative director Lutz Huelle with a change of direction. This saw Delpozo swap the London Fashion Week catwalk for the French capital, presenting the latest collection through private appointments.

Delpozo's Autumn Winter 2019 collection - Delpozo

Designed by the label’s in-house team under the watchful eye of Lutz Huelle, the collection introduces a complete wardrobe for the modern-day woman, incorporating the standout pieces for special occasions which have become synonymous with the brand, as well as more casual styles for everyday wear. Versatility runs throughout the range, placing a particular emphasis on luxury and comfort. There are endless possible combinations, ranging from the most classic style to more cool and chic combo. The range maintains the 'savoir faire’ of the fashion house owned by Grupo Perfumes y Diseño, mixing everyday essentials with hero pieces such as a couture-inspired ruffled jacket, cashmere and merino wool jumpers, pleated trousers and a  a midi length skirt with a bias-cut ruffle - a key piece of the collection. The colour palette goes from earthy and neutral hues to brighter shades, adding touches of bright orange and rose pink.

In terms of accessories, Delpozo expands its handbag range with the introduction of three new styles:  the Lady Bow, the Cactus Bucket and the Cabas. The category has received a boost since Italian expert Massimo Bonini took over in February last year. The luxury label’s footwear offering also sees the arrival of a capsule collection featuring the first riding boot ever designed by the brand founded by Jesus Delpozo, in a range marked by embellished heels and toes.

The collection has been designed by Delpozo's in-house design team under the supervision of Lutz Huelle - Delpozo

After dressing Spanish actress Marta Nieto, who starred in Rodrigo Sorogoyen's 2017 short film Madre, the Spanish firm has again made a nod to its past. The actress, who was chosen to close Jesus del Pozo’s catwalk show wearing a wedding dress in 2008, donned a bridal gown designed by Josep Font in his first collection for Delpozo at this year’s Oscars ceremony in February. And recently, the house has tapped Luz Sanchez, the daughter of founder Jesús del Pozo’s muse Violeta Sanchez, for its latest ad campaign.

Delpozo fans will not have to wait long to get their hands on the first creations by Lutz Huelle for the brand. The brand said in an exclusive interview with  FashionNetwork.com that the German designer, whose eponymous brand presented its latest collection during Paris Fashion Week, has already started working in the upcoming Resort 2019 collection. But his first creations will be unveiled before the summer, in an unspecified format and location. The firm is trying to maintain an element of surprise, after all, Huelle’s arrival will mark a new chapter in its history.
