David Ferreira wins Fashion Scout Merit Award

Published

Portugal-based womenswear designer David Ferreira has been named the AW16 Fashion Scout Merit Award winner, beating 200 other emerging designers across the globe for the prize.

Ferreira graduated from the BA (Hons) Fashion Design Course at the University of Westminster with his AW15 collection, and has worked for designers Iris Van Herpen, Giles Deacon and Meadham Kirchoff. His garments "blur the lines" between fashion and art, Fashion Scout says.

“David’s Westminster graduate collection was critically acclaimed by press and media and he has such a strong vision. Fashion Scout is renown around the world for showcasing and nurturing the freshest international talent and David definitely fits in this,” said Fashion Scout founder and creative director Martyn Roberts.

Ferreira now wins £25,000 over three seasons to help support and develop his business. He also gets a fully funded catwalk show at London Fashion Week, which will take place on February 19 at Fashion Scout.

Fashion Scout is approaching its 20th season of supporting emerging designers. The initiative has platforms in London, Paris and Kiev and has launched designers including Peter Pilotto, Eudon Choi, Phoebe English and Xiao Li.
