At Barneys, Martinez served as VP, Digital Creative Director and was responsible for the redesign of the retailer’s websites. Prior to joining Barneys in 2011, he served as Senior Art Director of T: The New York Times Style Magazine and Kick Media, Art Director at ESPN Magazine, Esquire Magazine and Priest Media, and Senior Designer at Miller Freeman.

Martinez’s experience on the multi-brand level should be an asset for Olivela, which also offers several brands on its website. Launched by Stacey Boyd in June 2017, Olivela offers women’s ready-to-wear and accessories from luxury labels such as Marc Jacobs, Givenchy, Dolce & Gabbana, Valentino and Stella McCartney, with all proceeds going to help charities.

The appointment of Martinez comes four months after Olivela hired former Saks Fifth Avenue executive Ariel Foxman as Chief Merchant. Foxman spent 20 years of her career at Saks as SVP Merchandising for Saks Off 5th, VP of Saks Direct, and VP/DMM of Men’s, and at Gilt as Chief Merchant.
