Just a week after it announced its new Clothing & Home chief, retail giant M&S has made another lynchpin hire with the creative director of Arcadia Group Retail, Anthony Cassidy, taking the role of head of brand creative as a key part of the marketing team.

He won’t join until spring 2020 and will report in to the Clothing & Home division’s director of marketing, Nathan Ansell.

Ansell said Cassidy’s appointment comes as the company is changing “and great marketing is an important way we’ll increase our appeal to our target of busy families, communicating style and value, and backing our powerhouse categories with confidence, from denim to schoolwear.

“Over the past few months the team have worked tirelessly to deliver more relevant campaigns that support the strategy including our Per Una refresh and our Christmas advert – Go Jumpers.”

Cassidy has been at Arcadia for almost three years and was previously at the Portas communications agency. Before that he worked in Australia as associate creative director for one of Sydney's most successful fashion and lifestyle creative agencies. While there he was working on brands including Sportscraft, Paspaley, Running Bare, Bonds, and Nikon Australia.

As mentioned, the hire comes as the Clothing & Home division prepares for its new head with Richard Price set to join (also not until next year) after running Tesco’s F&F fashion operation.
