Sports retailer Perry Sport opens flagship store in Rotterdam

Dutch sports retailer Perry Sport will unveil its third flagship store on 30 June. The shop will be located at Rotterdam’s Hoogstraat 196, a new location for the retailer that previously had a Rotterdam branch at Lijnbaan.

The 2,000-square-metre store marks the third flagship in the Netherlands following shops in Utrecht and Amsterdam. The two-story building is part of Perry Sport's new store concept and will focus on offering customers inspiration, experience and events, the brand said in a press release.

The Rotterdam flagship will feature services such as Perry Sport’s Experience Box, which is dedicated to product launches, sports try-outs and events. The box is also available to Rotterdam-based entrepreneurs, who can use the space for events in partnership with the retailer. Lastly, the Experience Box is also a space where customers can collect and return online orders.

With the opening of its third flagship store and further expanding its new store concept, Perry Sport aims to strengthen its position in the Dutch retail market.

The first branch of Perry Sport opened in 1866 in Amsterdam, at the time named The English American Warehouse Perry & Co. The American company Unlimited Sports Group took over ownership of Perry Sport in 2006. From 2016, the company has been part of JD Sports group, who took the retailer over following a bankruptcy in February of that year. The retailer introduced its first flagship store in December 2016 in Amsterdam, followed by a shop in Utrecht in April 2018.
