Sport 2000 International, the second largest trade association for the sportswear industry in Europe, has announced a 4.5% increase in revenue to 6.9 million euros ($8.04 million,£6.1 million) in 2016 – marking the period as a record year.

Margit Gosau is Sport 2000 International's CEO since March - Sport 2000 International

“It is impressive how much we moved and pushed forward last year despite the absence of a CEO at SPORT 2000 through the interim leadership of Dr. Schwarting and Hans-Hermann Deters. We reached important milestones, which will help me to take the next steps towards further strengthening Sport 2000 International,” said new CEO Margit Gosau, at the annual general meeting in Nice in late April.

In addition to the presentation of the annual figures for 2016, Gosau also presented the guidance for the current financial year.” "Sport 2000 is working intensively on ensuring the organisation is fit for the future, by committing to actively promoting a verticalization strategy and thus securing and further expanding the group’s position. With a stronger, more uniform approach from national organisation and a clear commitment to a common, strategic goal, we are ready for the challenges ahead,” said Gosau.

The group continues to work with top brands, increase the brand awareness and visibility of Sport 2000 International, and expand internationally with a focus on European markets. “Collaboration with top brands was intensified through a simplified go-to market process, we have better defined each international brand and implemented strong international marketing campaigns,” she added.

While partnerships with top brands are a key element of her strategy, Gosau also plans to expand Sport 2000 International’s own brand portfolio. “Our own brand The High Colorado, Stuf, York and V3Tec complete the offering of entry-level products for Sport 2000 retailers.”

Another focus is on expanding into new markets and countries, particularly in Europe. “The expansion of licenses in Europe is an important strategic step towards further market visibility and helps us to be a reliable partner for our internationally established top brand partners and their strong European businesses,” said Gosau. This year, the company aims to launch in Spain, Hungary, Greece and the Balkans. Additionally, Sport 2000 International has recently secured its first partner outside Europe, who will help build the Sport 2000 International business in Dubai and Gulf states.

“My goal for the coming years is to drive forward the strategic direction and clear positioning of the association. Our strength lies in the specialisation and multi-category approach, which is to be further strengthened,” announced Gosau.

The association Sport 2000 was founded in 1988 in Switzerland, but is headquarters are currently located in Mainhausen, Germany. It has 4,154 sales locations in 25 countries with more than 35,000 employees.
