Guillaume Meilland is the new design director for the Salvatore Ferragamo menswear collections. With this hire, the luxury Italian label has completed the total reorganization of its design staff, started with the departure of Massimiliano Giornetti last March.

The studio is now segmented into three activities, each of which has been entrusted to a young designer. Menswear is now the domain of Guillaume Meilland, women's ready-to-wear is under the auspice of Fulvio Rigoni, who unveiled his first collection in September, and women's shoes is being led by Paul Andrew.

“Three young, expressive talents, but ones who offer significant experience with international luxury brands," said Salvatore Ferragamo in a statement.

The label's latest newcomer was recruited at Lanvin, where he has worked as a senior designer for menwsear since 2008. Between 2007 and 2008, Guillaume Meilland was part of men's sportswear at Yves Saint Laurent. He began his career in 2002, working for a number of houses, including Cacharel.

The designer will debut on the Milan catwalks in January, revealing his first collection with Salvatore Ferragamo for fall-winter 2017-18.
