Petit Bateau enlists prima ballerina for new kids and womenswear capsule

French ballet star and top choreographer Marie-Agnès Gillot is bringing a little polish to the nautical chic-inspired brand this fall with a stylish and comfortable ready-to-wear line for tiny tots, kids and women retailing at Petit Bateau's Champs Elysées flagship store in Paris on October 25, and online from November 2.

What can we expect from Petit Bateau's latest collaboration? Marie-Agnès Gillot has re-styled Petit Bateau's iconic yellow raincoat in chic navy with gold hardware and light blue lining. She also used the practical waxy water-repellant fabric for a pair of kids' dungarees -- designed by Gillot's 3-year old son, and on a full midi skirt and jacket in the womenswear range.

Girls' tutu dresses with an integrated leotard were inspired by the first costumes she wore on stage, aged 9 while performing "The Nutcracker."

Some of the highlights from the women's range include Petit Bateau's staple striped cotton t-shirts featuring leotard-like deep V-back detailing, and a long soft grey dress featuring Grecian draping at the back.

A camisole 'biketard', striped bolero and fun leg warmers also add further ballet chic to Gillot's women's capsule for Petit Bateau.

Prices start at €35 for grown-ups and €14.90 for kids.

It is the first time that the French label has invited a dancer to co-design a collection. In previous years, Petit Bateau has teamed up with designers both famous and less well-known -- including Jean-Charles de Castelbajac, Tsumori Chisato and Annelie Schubert. Last year, Petit Bateau added 90s supermodel turned French style guru, Inès de la Fressange to its long list of guest designers. The proceeds of the collection were donated to the Worldwide movement for Human Rights. Similarly, the brand is donating the proceeds of its Marie-Agnès Gillot x Petit Bateau to "Dix Mois d'Ecole et d'Opera", an outreach initiative between Paris's national Opera and the French education system, offering 1000 underprivileged students support and greater access to the performing arts.
