Paris Fashion Week has just added another name to its roster, one that grew up to prominence in the U.S. The luxury ready-to-wear and accessories brand Altuzarra was launched in 2008 in New York by its namesake designer Joseph Altuzarra, known for its very feminine style that mixes "French savoir-faire and American comfort."

The designer was born and grew up in France, his mother Chinese-American and his father French-Spanish. He studied art history at Swarthmore College in Pennsylvania, afterward interning at Marc Jacobs and Proenza Schouler, before learning pattern making at Nicholas Caito. He then returned to Paris, working under the aegis of Riccardo Tisci until he set off to launch his own line.

“I was born and raised in Paris and the city holds a very deep personal significance for me,” said the designer in a statement. “This has been a dream of mine since the very beginning and now the time feels right. I am honored to be invited by La Fédération de la Haute Couture et de la Mode to show in my hometown of Paris for the first time since the creation of Altuzarra.” The show is scheduled to take place during the next Paris Fashion Week in September.

Altuzarra’s brand won the CFDA Womenswear Designer of the Year Award in 2014, and is meanwhile sold in more than 100 stores worldwide. The label received a minority investment from the Kering Group in 2013.
