Dsquared2 has announced a major change in its management team with a two-line press release. The founders and shareholders of the ready-to-wear label, Canadian twins Dean and Dan Caten, simply wrote that "Gianfranco Maccarrone is no longer the group's CEO" and thanked him for his dedication over the course of his twenty-year tenure.

The fashion label offered no explanation about this surprise split. For the time being, no information has been provided about the person who will succeed the Italian manager.

Dsquared2 recently adopted a mixed-show format, unveiling its men's and women's collections together at the Milan menswear Fashion Week last June, and will not be showing in Milan this week. It will nevertheless stage a showroom presentation of the Spring/Summer 2018 collection, and organise a gala evening on Wednesday 20th, the Milan Fashion Week's opening day.

The chic sportswear label was created in 1995, and has constantly broadened its customer base since then, thanks also to a licence agreement with Staff International, the manufacturing company belonging to Renzo Rosso's OTB group. The agreement was renewed in 2010 and will last until 2027. It covers the production and distribution of Dsquared2's men's and women's ready-to-wear lines. It does not cover accessories, which are instead developed in-house.

Dsquared2 operates nearly 70 stores worldwide. In 2015, the last year for which the label published its financial results, it reported a revenue of €220 million, equivalent to a 5% growth.
