Cunard’s Transatlantic Fashion Week sets sail for New York

A ‘Transatlantic Fashion Week’ has launched on board the most famous ocean liner in the world with events including catwalks by fashion designer Julien Macdonald, talks and exclusive unveilings.

Setting sail from Southampton for New York, this is the second ‘Transatlantic Fashion Week’ organised by luxury ocean liners operator Cunard on board Queen Mary 2.

The seven-day voyage will arrive in New York on 7 September, the very same day this season’s New York Fashion Week begins.

The line-up is headlined by Julien Macdonald, who is best known for dressing A-list celebrities including Beyoncé, Jennifer Lopez, Celine Dion and Kim Kardashian in his ultra-glamorous red carpet gowns. In addition to hosting two runway shows, Macdonald will take part in a Q&A about his career.

"Cunard's Transatlantic Fashion Week is such an exciting concept that celebrates the world of fashion in an iconic and timeless venue, the Queen Mary 2. I'm looking forward to having a week on board and bringing some fun and glamour to Cunard's guests," said the designer.

Other highlights will include fashion illustration workshops with respected fashion historian and style commentator Colin McDowell, a talk with Karl Dunkley, the founder and CEO of Jermyn Street business Grosvenor Shirts, and exclusive first look runway shows featuring collections from Parsons School of Design graduates.

This year, Mulberry is joining the line-up with the launch of its Autumn/Winter 2017 collection. Exclusive to Queen Mary 2, the range will include iconic styles such as the Bayswater as well as both core and seasonal colours.

There will be also a pop-up store selling a range of Lucy Choi's designer shoes, and luxury swimwear designs from Melissa Odabash will be also available for purchase.
