Condé Nast chief digital officer exits

Published
Oct 10, 2018

Condé Nast's chief digital officer, Fred Santarpia, is exiting the media giant, the company announced on Tuesday.

The company said in a memo: “Through dramatic upgrades to our digital products and performance, the ability to scale and monetize our audience and the development of critical digital partnerships, he successfully helped pave the way for a cohesive global effort and we will build on that foundation.”

Santarpia wrote on Instagram, in a repost of a message sent to the company: "Unfortunately, there’s never a good time to say goodbye, but with the company’s digital foundation set, this is the right time for me to say farewell."

Santarpia was named Executive Vice President and Chief Digital Officer in 2014, prior to which he served as EVP and CDO of Condé Nast Entertainment for two years. He was tasked with continuing the build the company's digital division after successful leading video strategy, later leading the acquisitions of Pitchfork and Citizen Net.

His departure comes after a string of high-profile exits, including from Condé Nast Entertainment president Dawn Ostroff; Chief Experience Officer Josh Stinchcomb and Teen Vogue Chief Content Office Phillip Picardi, whose replacement was also announced on Tuesday.

The company did not name a replacement, but said that the role would instead make way for an evolution of the digital business.
