Christian Louboutin links with Moda Operandi for Rococo capsule

American luxury retailer Moda Operandi has partnered with the French designer on a limited-edition capsule of embroidered black suede mules, pumps and flats, inspired by the 18th century French court.

Their second collaboration offers the three handmade styles in two colourways: gold or silver floral embroidery. A personalisation option is also included for customers wishing to have their initials embroidered on the heel.

"The styles are inspired by 18-century French court costumes and the opulent Rococo style embroideries used on many of the clothes from that time," Louboutin said. "Each pair of shoes is made entirely by hand taking approximately 67 hours of work in total, combining the efforts of at least six people. The embroidery is the longest part of the process, taking about a week (approximately 42 hours) with the rest of the process requiring around 25 additional hours of work."

The limited-edition collection comprises 50 units and is currently available via pre-order via the site's recently launched editorial-meets-ecommerce feature, the 'Shoe Salon'. Prices range from €2,940 for the ballerina flat to €3,540 for the Pigalle Pump.
