Birkenstock opens first store in Denmark

Birkenstock has made its bricks-and-mortar debut in Denmark, where customers can now view the entire collection at Kronprinsengade 13 in the capital.

The store is situated in the heart of Copenhagen’s old town, on one of the most prominent and vibrant streets of the Danish capital. It occupies a space of 90 square metres, and is surrounded by fashion stores.

“Copenhagen is simply one of the trendsetting cities in the fashion world. Thanks to our first official brand store in the country, we are now able to offer the largest Birkenstock selection in Denmark. Thus we will be in a better position to present all facets of our premium lifestyle brand,” said Per Friis, managing director for the brand in Denmark.

The store stocks a selection of more than 250 products across women’s, men’s and children’s footwear, as well as bags, belts, socks and accessories. The company expects its closed toe shoes, children’s shoes, socks and accessories to perform particularly well.

The range also includes the natural cosmetics line Birkenstock Natural Care with a range of hand- and foot- care products.

The opening follows Birkenstock’s decision to sell its products in Denmark directly. It had previously been represented by a local distributor for almost 15 years.

The company is currently working on expanding its own-brand product range after seeing the success of its core sandals range. Whilst it will continue to focus strongly on its spring and summer pieces, it will also start to place more importance on all-year round products.
