Beauty.bot launches beauty industry chatbot platform with Amazon

Published
Feb 15, 2018

Amazon Registry Services has launched a new .Bot platform and has partnered with Automat on Beauty.bot, an artificial intelligence-powered conversational messaging platform custom tailored for the beauty industry.

Beauty bots are an increasingly popular online tool for engaging consumers in the beauty industry - Beauty.bot

Andy Mauro, CEO of Automat, the parent company and developer of Beauty.bot explained the platform is meant to help the beauty industry learn and collectively share. Beauty bots use artificial intelligence and virtual reality to create product recommendations, beauty tips, book appointments and create an authentic personalized experience that is meant to build loyalty with a brand.

Over the past two years, brands that have experimented with chatbot technology include L'Oréal and Cover Girl. Sephora was the first beauty company to use a chatbot in 2016.

By 2017, over 100,000 chatbots existed on Facebook Messenger. Estée Lauder launched a conversational AR lipstick advisor last July and Urban Decay launched an AR-powered bot last holiday to help users find their ideal palette. Just last month Smashbox introduced a full face AR chatbot.

Mauro said, "we recognized a need to educate brands, developers, tech vendors and consumers about the rapidly growing, dynamic beauty bot space, and to pull information that can be hard to find into one comprehensive resource."

Beauty.bot launches with three specific areas. It has a directory of all beauty bots, an educational section of case studies of companies using bots to transform their user experience for direct sales results, and a news section of curated content specific to the beauty industry's use of conversational marketing.

Stacey King, General Manager at Amazon Registry Services said, "With .Bot we've aimed to create a place where anyone can launch their chatbot, find development resources, and drive discovery – helping to bridge the gap between .Bot developers and customers."

Beauty.bot is now live.
